Hanging scale; back side appears to be cast iron and has a rounded surface, top has a hole for hanging scale and at bottom is a hook to hang the object to be weighed; front plate is a thinner stamped metal, possible brass, at bottom of front plate is a graduated scale to 50 lbs plus and indicator in a slot by the marks; behind the front plate and inside the curving surface of the back plate is a stiff spring; weighted object on hook would pull spring & indicator down to show objects' weight Front plate stamped at eth top: "WARRANTED/ AND MADE BY/ C. FORSCHNER"
