2 piece object; main piece is wood shaft; smaller end is slightly rounded and is 1 3/4" in diameter, appros. 1 3/4" from this end the shaft is turned so as to have screw threads for a distance of 16 1/4"; 2 1/2" from where the threaeds end is a groove; 3/4" above the groove, the shaft widens to 4" diameter, this end has a 1" wide hole drilled through it and iws decorated with a series of 3 scored lines on each end plus a single scored line at the top and bottom of the hole; 2nd. piece is block of wood 2 7/8" thick x 7" long x 3 7/8" wide screwed onto the shaft with 2 metal bolts & nuts in opposite corners.
Donor was unsure of object; believes a family member from Texas brought it when they moved to Shelby County; appears to be part of a pressing operation like a cider press or something.Collection
