Context

Peter Lux gained international fame as a four-time World Corn King, a competition hosted through the International Hay and Corn Show and then the International Livestock Exposition. Charles Fischer, another Shelby County native, also held the tidal of World Corn King, winning and unprecedented six times. Between these two farmers, Shelby County held the Corn King title 11 times between 1919 and 1965.
