Description

Traditional style hand sickle; has curving blade that tapers to a point; and wood handle; this sickle was made in two pieces; an iron tang that fits inside the handle terminates with a 90 degree bend and sickle blade has been fored welded to it at this point; an unusual feature in the way the blade is beveled for sharpening indicates sickle was used by left handed person. Ira Isley was blacksmith at Mt. Auburn. IN and he possibly made this item. See also Neg. N-689
