A device shaped as a leg and apparently used for a cast. The back os made of two boards 3/4" x 1 1/4". They are hinged together; the top board has a carving on front corresponding to a human thigh. It has two cloth straps and a turnbuckle in back which adjusts a brace; lower board has a carving on front corresponding toa human calf and the back has a turnbuckle which adjusts angle at which boards join. At very bottom of lower board is an adjustable footrest.
Had old coooection number 171 and records for it read: "saddle bags period 1837 used over 100 years ago by Hiram B. Comstock, M.D. of Shelby Co. Father of William S. and Edward Comstock. Feb 4, 1938 (also a cast for broken limbs)" old records indicate was originally a lone.Use
