Early carpet sweeper; has wood frame with top of framing covered w/6 overlapping wood pieces; top wood piece has gold lettering "Sweeperette" at end of word a metal knob extends through wood in a slot, applied metal piece around slot reads "No. 4"; lettering on handle base indicates had reverse sweeping, one way for carpets, other way for floor, brass knob & celluloid strip protect wood from handle base; 4 metal wheels originally covered by rubber.
Paper label inside identifies as a product of the Sweeperette Co. of Grand Rapids, Michigan and lists a series of patent dates from Oct. 7, 1890 thru July 3, 1894 and states other patents pending.
No known history; donor found it several years ago at a rummage sale.Collection
