Two isinglass plaster containers, made circa 1906-1910.
One tin reads : " Surgeon's Silk Isinglass Plaster. Flesh. One Yard. Manufactured by Johnson & Johnson. New Brunswick, N.J. USA. Apply by Moisture." Other was made in New York, USA.
There are two red cross symbols at either end of the writing and a red cross symbol on the cap.
Isinglass is "A transparent, almost pure gelatin prepared from the swim bladder of the sturgeon and certain other fishes and used as an adhesive and a clarifying agent."
They were owned by Dr. Austin Schooley; born March 1865 in Dearborn Co., graduated from Ohio Medical College in 1888; practiced medicine in Geneva, IN until 1903; then in Waldron 1918; was in WW1 and died in 1934 in Shelbyville, IN.Use
