Donation, 03/1984. Standard telegraph form used by the Western Union Telegraph Company. Message sent to "Rev. J. H. Groff, 553 N. Alabama St., Indianapolis" and reads: "Lillie died this morning funeral Monday morning at eleven o'clock". Rev. Groff wrote a pencil message on back and mailed the telegram to Shelbyville. Message reads: "Dear Mrs. Kennedy/Here is the worst./I am trying not to worry./I got this telegram two/hours ago./Pray for/me./O it seems so/sad. I will not come/to Shelbyville just now/if I can keep my self/control--Love all/JHG" Condition: Paper has yellowed, has vertical and horizontal crease where folded in quarters.Collection
