2 arms held together at top of handle with a rivet. At bottom of handle is telescoping spring; at end of arm is a 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" shovel shape with 5 teeth. Ira Isley was blacksmith at Mt. Auburn. IN. Used for lifting coal; See also Neg. N-689
