Tongs, BrazingDescription
Set of tongs; arms are mirror image to each other and riveted together with rivet acting as a pivot point; handles are approximately 10" leaving small area for jaws; the jaw end of one arm is beveled on one side and flat on the other - opposite jaw is beveled on both sides; when closed the jaws have a more or less rectangular opening between them.
One of the arms is stamped "WEED"
Probably not a cutting tool; suspect opening in jaws used to grip standard rod stock during early stages of forging; according to donor's family history, tool was made by Theodore Vandegrift, a blacksmith in Little Marion; that does not account for "WEED" stamped in the one arm.Collection
