Looks like a big "C" clamp on a base; on the front two arms angle out and are bolted to a large piece of metal and this large piece moves up and down to strike a stationary piece, metal to be flattened out was laid between these two pieces.

Special Function: Mr. Bogeman was born July 30, 1895 and started smithing at age 16 as an apprentice for John Miller. Mr. Bogeman died Jan. 22, 1988.
Remarks: 84.48.123A - belt - mheavy cloth type - used to drive trip hammer; transfer wheels (84.48.124) were used to drive trip hammer (84.48.123) and used belt 84.48.123A) belt ran from motor or engine to large wheel on transfer wheel which turned small wheel that had another belt that run to wheel on trip hammer.
