Trunk sits on 2 wood runners that run length of object; underside bottom is metal; end pieces are wood that have been covered with thin leather; front and back made from thick leather; all leather pieces are borwn and decorated with geometric shapes scored in the surface; reinforcement in form of iron straps that are nailed on.
Cover plate for key hole is stamped with an eagle on top of a key and arching above his is " J. Terry & Co."
Donor is great-great grandson of Jonathan Keith. According to family history, Keith used this trunk for his personal belongings while he was in the army during the war with Mexico.
