Ambrotype in Union Case; image is male; side parted, brushed over the ears hair style, part is on right side (negative images reverses) of person, left side in photographs; soft collar shirt, loosely knotted necktie; checked vest, something hanging around his neck reaching nearly to his stomach; wearing a coat; the image is on the back side of the glass; glued to a dark piece of glass; gold foil oval mat; three pieces held together with thin gold color foil borders; case is brown Union Case with two deer embossed on front and back; left side ofinterior is maroon pressed velour. Printing on case is behind photogaph:'GENUINE UNION CASE/Improved S. PECKS PATENT Oct. 3d, 1854/ H. HALVERSON'S PATENT Aug 7th, 1855, Assigned to S. Peck/S Peck's Patent Feb. 5th 1856. According to old collection records this is one of 3 pictures of members of the O.W. Cotton family.
