There is a switch on the handle to turn the vacuum cleaner on. The handle is metal & an electric cord comes out of the handle. There are hooks on the handle to wrap the cord on. It is a G.E. vacuum cleaner. On the bag is printed G.E./DeLuxe/CleanerCollection
