Wedding DressDescription
This dress was made for Amy Thurston, daughter of Arthur and Suzanne Thurston and worn at Amy's wedding to Albert Berthouex on March 22, 1986. The wedding took place at Idlewild Presbyterian Church in Memphis, TN. The bride wanted to wear her mother's wedding dress but unfortunately it was too badly stained. Dawn's Couturiere Custom Bridal Salon of Memphis, TN was able to recreate the dress. The only difference in the two dresses is the length of the sleeves.
The original dress was worn by Suzanne DePrez, granddaughter of Jennie DePrez, at her wedding to Arthur Thurston in July of 1948. The wedding took place at the home of General Daniel and Virginia DePrez at 103 W. Mechanic St., Shelbyville, IN. The lace used as a short veil was found in belgium by the bride's mother.
Amy's dress is a white, off the shoulder gown with short sleeves. It has a ruffled trim around the neck and at the waist. There are several small ruffled lines around the skirt of the dress and the skirt also includes a built in train. There are a few small stains to the skirt but it is genrally in good condition.
The dress was used for the 2017 Bridal Exhibit. There are several DePrez dresses in the collection.Collection
