Description

Black and white photographic print of tombstone which reads at top: "Sacred/to the memory of/Jacob Whetzel,/was born Sept. 16th 1765,/and died July 2nd 1827". Below that inscription is: "No. 2nd/Sabra Whetzel/Wife of/Charles Newton,/born Feb. 22nd 1798,/died Jan. 20th 1822." The last inscription reads: "Also Amanda,/daughter of S. & C. Newton,/died 1821 Aged 2 Years " Jacob Whetzel was an Indiana Pioneer, cut the Whetzel Trace through Shelby Co.
