Description

White ironstone saucer; edge rises to 1" from table surface; there is a cup well in the middle. Marks: underside has a coat of arms with a lion on the left side and a unicorn on the right; there is a "V" by the lion and a "R" by the unicorn; above the mark are the words "Ironstone China" and below are the words "J & G MEakin/England"

Context

This saucer was used with handle-less cups. The custom was to pour coffee into the saucer to allow it to cool.
