Context

Marriage Announcement in Daily Democrat Oct. 4, 1883: "The marriage of Mr. Jacob G. Deprez last night to Miss Jennie Wray took place at the M.E. Church, Rev. S.J. Tomlinson officiating. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bride's father, Mr. Isom Wray, which was a brilliant and enjoyable affair. Mr. and Mrs. Deprez left on the ten o'clock train for Chicago, followed by the best wishes of hundreds of their friends. They have the best wishes of the Democrat for a pleasant time and safe return." Note from the Democrat on the same day: "The Democrat acknowledges the receipt of a box of elegant cake from Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Deprez. In return we wish them a wedded life overflowing with enjoyment and future success. No couple ever married in this city who had warmer friends than the subjects of this brief notice. Mr. Deprez is one of our leading business men and his wife has long been noted for her many personal charms, sweetness of disposition and intelligence." J.G. owned DePrez Hardware on the Public Square. The couple had one son, Daniel Wray DePrez (1884-1967).
