Women's White Cotton Day DressDescription
White cotton summer dress, with three quarter length sleeves. Sleeves 16" long with lace insertion in four chevron patterns on body of sleeves. Cuffs are made of two rows of lace insertions and lace ruffle 1/2" wode. Bodice is 12 1/2" long in front with 2" wide square neck with raised rose design. A row of lace inserted outside of lace, & 1/2" ruffle on neck edge. Chevron lace design on front with neck lace and roses down the front, a pinafore type ruffle of 4 rows of insertion over the shoulders 2 1/2" wide. The back is 12" long with opening down themiddle. 3 hooks at back of neck, 6 tiny pearl buttons, 6 hooks at bottom opening - series of insertion and tucks all over the back of the bodice. Waist band is lace and raised roses 2" wide. Skirt is 38" long - a series of lace insertion and tucks on skirt - 3" wide hem, machine sewing. Underslip, 24" waist, 1/2" band white cotton - machine sewing - hook and eye fastening 37 1/2" long. Flounce 22 1/2" long with 3 tucks 2" long and 2" hem. Overpetticoat white cotton - 24" waistband 1/2" wide fastened with hook and eye, total length 40" long - a series of 5 1/2" tucks completely vertical around top, 6 tucks and 2 rows of 1" insertion at top of flounce. 11" long, 3 tucks, 2 rows of insertion 1" wide, 5 1/2" of lower flounce and ruffle around the bottom

Clara Roberts salvaged the dress from condemned row house in Baltimore Md. circa 1912 - brought back to Shelbyville. Nora Burton and Clara Roberts were partners in B and R Flower Shop in Shelbyville, IN.Collection
