Gulfport Post 125 American Legion was organized September 8, 1941 with a membership of 15. Permanent Charter was granted on December 17, 1941. Meetings were held at Community Hall (Scout Hall) until they started their own quarters with membership labor in 1952.

"Gulfport Post 125 American Legion was organized Sept. 8 1941 with a membership of 15. Permanent Charter was granted Dec 17 1941 however in 1947 name was changed to Andy Anderson Post 125 in honor of Marine Corporal Andy Anderson of W.W. 1. Meetings were held in early days at the Community Hall. They started their present quarters in 1952 with membership labor. It was completed in 1952, however many additions have been made to accomodate the membership which has now grown to 700 in 1971. The club house is located at 1607 49th street south. In carrying out the Legion pledge of service to the Community, State and Nation, many projects in all fields have been accomplished such as work with Veterans and families, Blood Bank, Americanism, Child Welfare, etc. Pictured below shows the burning of the clubhouse mortgage ceremonies on Nov. 11 1953 with W.T.
