GULFPORT - The dress will be formal, the cook will wear a tuxedo, meals will be served champagne and the diners will come by invitation only.
That's the grand opening Dennis McCauley has in mind for his hot dog stand called Mr. D's.
A kooky idea? Of course it is, but that's what McCauley says he wants to do to set the new business apart from scores of other fast food shops.
When McCauley and his partner Bob Ostellino were youngsters in Pittsfield, Mass., there were 55,000 people and one hot dog stand in town. Today he says there 45,000 people and five hot dogs stands - all doing well.
