The Calvary Baptist Church, at 55th St and Gulfport Blvd, was built in 1944 for a total cost of $3,700. Once called the "Little White Church of the Singing Pines," it was surrounded by tall pines in which loudspeakers were placed so that chimes could call people to worship. In the 1980s, the church property was sold and the congregation moved to Largo. In the fall of 1998, the deteriorating buildings were demolished.
