Cusson'sContext
"The house at 2928 Beach Boulevard was built in 1912, making it the earliest of Gulfport's commercial buildings. The first owner was Alexis Cusson, a Canadian brought here by the cigar business, who operated a grocery store on the first floor and rented the upstairs apartment. It was sold in the 1920s, and became the Florida Playthings factory, which manufactured wooden toys and lawn ornaments until 1938, when it was made over into apartments. The porches have been enclosed." (Gabber Newspaper, April 22, 2010)Collection
