The Boca Ciega Yacht Club in Gulfport, formerly the Sunshine City Boat Club before being displaced by the Bounty exhibit, is approaching a tangible end to two years of hard work at new quarters. Proud of their enclosed harbor, providing a rough-weather refuge, club members have been spending much of their time in the past two years building a modern clubhouse, installing docks and pilings and getting a future total of 150 slips ready. At left, some of the people who've been working hard during past months are, from left, Norman Striter, Bud Peterson and Jim Wilcoxson. Below left, another shot of the work going on shows, from left, Ray Hazel, Peterson Bill Wilkie and Wilcoxson laboring to get the new club basin ready. Below, an unidentified club member works on reconditioning his boat in drydock, with the clubhouse in the background. And finally, the bottom photo shows the club's 16 slips on the east side already completed, rented and in use.Language
