Gulfport BeachContext
"The shelter on Gulfport Beach has a history that goes back at least to 1928, when Councilman Marion Jones claimed credit for it during his race for mayor (which he won). It must have been rethatched periodically, but doesn't make the news again until R.W. Caldwell donated funds for it in 1946, by which time "the appropriate materials could not be found" and the roof was replaced with metal panels." (Gabber Newspaper, July 29, 2010)Collection
