Gulfport CasinoContext
"... taken by Mr. R.W. Caldwell, Jr., on a visit home from his studies at M.I.T. in 1940. When the dredge hit an old sulphur pocket, the resultant stinking black smoke not only turned the newly-painted casino a very grim shade, it also tarnished the money and silverware of every establishment nearby. (This stench, the [St. Petersburg] Times reported, was for once "not caused by another town political squabble.")" (Gabber Newspaper, June 24, 2010)Collection
