GREETINGS FROM 1977 and TOWN SHORES OF GULFPORT Town Shores of Gulfport was built primarily as a retirement community, but built and maintained so that retirement would be an active and exciting way of life. From the very beginning residents have enjoyed a wide range of activities at the club house, the pools, tennis and shuffleboard courts. I planned and developed Town Shores and watched over it as it grew from a handful of residents to over 1100 families living here in 1977. The land was purchased in 1969, and the community was annexed into the City of Gulfport in 1970. Prices in 1970 for one bedroom, one bath apartments were $12,995 and two bedrooms, two baths started at $14,995. In 1977 inflation caused prices to accelerate to $21,995 for a one bedroom, one bath and two bedrooms, two baths started at $29,945. Total volume of sales amounted to $40,000,000. Many of the residents actively participate in community affairs and in service to the City of Gulfport administration. I sincerely wish all of you good luck, health and prosperity in the years to come. Herman Geller
