Description

Purchased by Brother CB Davis in June 1964 - the Kappa house in Houston has been a haven for ΚΑΨ meetings and events for more than 60 years. The house was paid off during the Manasses McGown administration (1988) and has been owned and operated by HAC since the late1960’s. The Houston fraternity house represents a key milestone for the chapter during the HAC middle years. From the Sixth Edition of The Story of Kappa Alpha Psi - "Houston (TX) Alumni Chapter House - In June 1964, the Houston (TX) Alumni took possession of a residential property in the Third Ward section of the city near the Texas Southern University and the University of Houston campuses. The house was a first for a Southwestern Province chapter. The house at 3349 Southmore would remain chapter headquarters for over half a century. Cleveland B. “C.B.” Davis (Beta Upsilon 1947) was the catalyst for the purchase of the house as he funded the initial down payment. Davis carried the liability insurance on the residence until 1968, when the chapter board of directors signed the house note as guarantors and made the house property of Houston (TX) Alumni. The chapter paid off the house note in December 1988."
