Robert Christopher (RC) Chatham, Jr. was born in
Hempstead, TX on Oct 7, 1885. He earned a B.S. from Prairie View College in 1906. He spent the early part of his teaching career in Waller County teaching and farming. He came to Houston in 1925 and was assigned to the Gregory School before being transferred to Phillis Wheatley high school in 1926 where he taught mathematics. He was a dominant figure in the Fifth Ward Improvement Club, a prominent business man.
RC Chatham was initiated into Kappa Alpha Psi into Houston Alumni in March of 1936. In the
picture of the 1936 SW Province meeting he had been in the bond for 1 month.
In 1942, Brother Chatham became head teacher of the Clinton Park Elementary School in Houston and became principal in 1949.He retired from HISD in 1955 as principal of Bruce Elementary School. Brother Chatham passed away in 1964 and is buried at Paradise Cemetery in Houston.Created By
