"Oct 14 - All Americans in Venice get romantic or "corny". I chose the latter yesterday & fed corn to the famous pigeons, one of which promptly decorated my hat! Was glad I had it on! Your article on the organ was here for me & enjoyed it very much. St. Mark's as rich & glowing as ever & Venice losses none of its magic. Went to Torcello yesterday to see the Byzantine mosaics - wonderful. Sail 19th for Athens & Istanbul as planned. Hope all well & that Irene is better. Lester"
