Description

Silver trophy cup given to John Hays Hammond Sr. upon coming in 1st in the 1/4 Mile Race in Dresden, Germany. Japanese-style scene etched into both sides of the cup. Includes a large temple or house, houseboat, bridge, river, fence, and gardens. Front inscription has a cross of gules/templar cross, then reads: "Dresden Football Club Old Members Prize" Back inscription reads: "J. H. Hammond 1st in 1/4 Mile Race April 13th 1878" Stem made of acanthus leaves. Bottom is plain silver with etched Japanese-style house and garden on each side. The two bottom etchings are slightly different from one another.
