Description

Bishop's Nook Arch aka the "Bari window" Archivolt and tympanum and columns. Inner archivolt of interlace design. Outer archivolt, wave pattern. Tympanum of basket-weave pattern. Supporting columns large interlace design. Romanesque-Byzantine style Italian Marble, 9-10th c From Lecce (near Bari) Italy (referred to as Bari window in Hammond correspondence) 1928 Pacifici purchase 2023 scholarship dates re-carving to 20th c.
