Set of 2 marble relief panels. Italian, circa 13th century (reproduction) The entrance jambs have small sculpted divisions which present a condensed [and perhaps simplified] version of thirteenth century marble panes from the [Church] of Santa Restituta in Naples, Italy. The original panels were part of a raised pulpit. Each panel is divided into individual Biblical scenes. 323.1 - Left panel: (from top to bottom) 1. Offerings of Cain and Abel 2. Samson and the Lion 3. Joseph storing Wheat? 4. Joseph and his Father? 5. Soldier on horse 6. Warrior saint 323.2 - Right panel: (from top to bottom) 1. Angel & 2 birds over entombed body 2. Angel bringing ram to Abraham 2. Sacrifice of Isaac 3. Balaam & Donkey 4. Joseph in royal chariot crossing Egypt? 5. Warrior Saint Possibly purchased 1928 from Bugli in Naples
