Russian Icon - The Tikhvin Mother of God Tempera on wood, 29 X 24.5 in a.) Inner panel of Virgin and Child. Child held in Virgin's left hand. Inner panel bordered by two flanking saints on each side plus floriated design. b.) Individual scenes on outer panel depict the miraculous transportation of the original icon of the Mother of God to the city of Tikhvin. Five scenes to each border, sixteen scenes total. Deaccessioned 1992
