Epitaph of C. Iulius Doryporus Marble stele rounded at top. Roman tombstone above arch to overlook stairs Inscribed - a (In) f(ronte) IV, p̣(ede) ỊỊṾ. b Iulia Helpi= s patron= o suo C(aio) Iulio 5Doryporo TRANSLATION In width, four (feet), (in depth) three? feet. Julia Helpis (made this) for her patron Gaius Julius Doryporus. COMMENTARY Line 1 has "in fronte IV pedes" rather than the more usual "in fronte pedes IV." The unclear "IIV" could be a form of the typical continuation of the formula: "in agro pedes (IV)."
