Moravian Pottery & Tile Works decorative tile panel, ca 1951
above pool
"Flower Pot brocade" pattern ordered 1951
3 yellow crowns above panel possibly ordered 1951 as separate order
1910-1912 known as Mercer & Co.
approximately 5X4 feet dimensions
"In the 1950s (long after Mercer himself died in 1930), Hammond ordered tiles from Mercer's company, the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works ..... According to the 1951 correspondence with the manager of the Tile Works, Hammond was there with Jay Chapman, who also selected some tiles (although Chapman does not seem to have followed up on his order). It's likely that Hammond selected the tiles for the pool area based on what he saw during his visit." 2026 Marth Easton (see General Notes)
