NN020Description
Purple & silver architectural wallpaper once hung in upper colonial guest.
Same paper as once hung in Hanry Davis Sleeper's Beauport
Pieces now in storage and sample on display
"Paul Revere House reproduction wallpaper, copied from the original by Thomas Strahan and Company of Chelsea, Massachusetts, on behalf of the Paul Revere House Association and used for its 1906-1908 restoration. Subsequently marketed by Strahan and Company and used extensively by Henry Davis Sleeper, beginning with Beauport in the Chapel Chamber (1911), and later for many of his clients.
The presence of the paper in the castle suggests a strong likelihood that Sleeper was involved in supplying the material to Hammond.
