Commanded 3rd Brigade, 1st Division, XIV Army Corps, Army of the Cumberland, March 12-May 3, 1864. Shell wound right forearm (amputated), New Hope Church, GA, May 28, 1864. Resigned Dec. 6, 1864, due to severe neuralgic pain from amputated arm. Postmaster, Findlay, Ohio, 1867-1869.
