Gifford-Blanchfield House, 5661 Buffalo Road, Harborcreek
VISIT OUR WEBSITEThe Harborcreek Historical Society is an all-volunteer organization. In 2017, the Society moved into its current headquarters in the historic Gifford-Blanchfield House at 5661 Buffalo Road following extensive renovation of the building, which is owned by Harborcreek Township. Seven generations of Gifford-Blanchfield family members resided in this historic homestead, built in 1839 by Gershom and Lucy Gifford and gifted to the Township in 2015 for use by the Society. We often accommodate group visits from local schools, scout groups, and clubs and are active in the Harborcreek community, participating with the Harborcreek Community Engagement Team, Harborcreek Township, the Harbor Creek School District, and Erie Yesterday, as well as other local organizations. Our collections, which are 85% archival collections, include journals, cemetery records, yearbooks, photographs, letters, documents, and an assortment of artifacts relating to Harborcreek Township. Because Harborcreek is a suburban/rural township, the collections slant to agricultural history and family history.
