In 1951, it was announced that the Tennessee Baptist Convention had plans to turn the Ward-Belmont School into a co-ed Baptist college. The announcement was sudden and took many WB alumnae by surprise. They started funds and petitions with the hope of negotiating with the TBC to get the Ward-Belmont property returned to WB alumnae.Collection
