The 1994 program for the George Washington Day Celebration put on by the class of 1999 when they were in the seventh grade. The celebration was dedicated to Martha Gregory, a former teacher and librarian at Harpeth Hall, who, forty years ago, wrote the speeches that we still use today in George Washington. George Washington was played by eighth grader Amanda "Mandy" Lomax (1998) and Martha Washington was played by eighth grader Tallu Schuyler Quinn (1998). The George Washington Day Celebration was a tradition that began at Belmont College for Young Women, developed into a costume ball and dance at Ward-Belmont, and was transferred to Harpeth Hall, where it continued as a special all-school program performed by Middle School students until 2020.Collection
