Scope and Content

A postcard featuring an image of the Ward-Belmont campus and main building in Nashville, Tennessee. Historical information on Ward-Belmont is included on the back of the postcard. The card was published by Zibart Bros. in Nashville, was made in the U.S.A., and required either a one cent domestic stamp or two cent foreign stamp.

Context

The postcard is also labeled with "C. T. American Art." This refers to a style of printing that originated in the early 1900s with the largest postcard maker in the world, Chicago’s Curt Teich & Company. The process essentially involved combining traditional letterpress printing (with a black halftone base) and offset lithography, which could overprint four-color inks.
