Scope and Content

The 1996 program for the George Washington Day Celebration put on by the class of 2001 when they were in the seventh grade. The celebration was dedicated to Nina Tobin, George Washington Costume Designer. George Washington was played by eighth grader Allyson Foreman (2000) and Martha Washington was played by eighth grader Patricia "Tricia" McWilliams Ward (2000). Front cover design by Elizabeth "Chowning" Johnson (2001).

Context

The George Washington Day Celebration was a tradition that began at Belmont College for Young Women, developed into a costume ball and dance at Ward-Belmont, and was transferred to Harpeth Hall, where it continued as a special all-school program performed by Middle School students until 2020.
