Context

Jean Jones Heddleston served as the choreographer and director of the Ward-Belmont Dance Department in the mid-1940s. She graduated from the Chalif School of Dancing in New York City. Alan Irwin served as Dean of the Conservatory of Music at Ward-Belmont. Florence Irwin, a piano teacher, was a graduate of Ward-Belmont and Rockford College, and earned her B.M. and M.M. degrees from the Bush Conservatory of Music. Alma Baskerville served as the school pianist in 1945. She was a graduate of Sullins Junior College, and also studied at Peabody College.
