Scope and Content

The 1988 program for the George Washington Day Celebration put on by the class of 1993 when they were in the seventh grade. The celebration was dedicated to Patty Litton Chadwell (1935) and Merrie Morrisey Clark (1969) for their continuing interest and support. George Washington was played by eighth grader Kara Emerson (1992) and Martha Washington was played by eighth grader Amy Hamilton (1992). Front cover design by Bethany Ragsdale Corrieri (1993).

Context

The George Washington Day Celebration was a tradition that began at Belmont College for Young Women, developed into a costume ball and dance at Ward-Belmont, and was transferred to Harpeth Hall, where it continued as a special all-school program performed by Middle School students until 2020.
