Emma Jean Hawes (née Fisher - married to David B. Hawes), originally from Kentucky, went on to become a professional bridge player after graduating from Ward-Belmont and Cornell University. She held several national and world titles during her career. She passed away in 1987, and was posthumously inducted into the American Contract Bridge League in 2002. While at Ward-Belmont, she was a member of the Anti-Pandora social club, the orchestra (in 1927, 1928, and 1929), and served as secretary of the Kentucky Club '27-'28.Collection
