Context

Emily Vivian Finklea Kelly (née Finklea), originally from Monroeville, Alabama, graduated from the Ward-Belmont preparatory school in 1947 and went on to earn her General Diploma from the Ward-Belmont junior college in 1949. While at Ward-Belmont College, Finklea participated in the Anti-Pandora social club, Music Club (1948), German Club (’48-’49), Chemistry Club (1949), and Biology Club (1949). Her leadership positions included President of Fidelity Hall (1949), Treasurer of Anti-Pandora (1949), C. G. O. Council (1949), and Y. W. C. A. Cabinet (1949). She went on to marry Ralph L. Kelly. The tradition of wearing white dresses for graduation continues today at Harpeth Hall.
