Dear Dick:
I think it is about that time of the year when we should plan to get together. It has been much too long. What are your plans for Thanksgiving? I hope they include a trip to Oberlin for Thanksgiving week end. We are counting on you so I hope you can get away.
Danny is in Fort Knox, Ky until Xmas time and I do not expect he will be home. I think the six months in the army has helped him mature a little. He seems to want to work for the next six months to get a little money ahead and then I am hoping he will go back to College but I think Fenn in Cleveland will be his choice although he has talked of completing that second semester at Case to get his full year of credits. If he can bring himself to do that, I think he has won quite a battle with himself.
John is a constant joy to us. It is hard to let him grow up. Here he is already a freshman in High School. He is still in the group of about 33 they are experimenting with with extra heavy assignments and faster and more advanced work. So far he is holding his own and is good about getting home work done. This was always a problem with Danny — that is to discipline himself to get a job done when it had to be done. He realized it in the spring and that is why he felt the service was the thing that might make him do what he had to do.
We did so enjoy our stop over at Jim's in August and we must not let so long go by again before we get together. Dan is very busy. He has had to make two trips east for the meetings about Washington D.C. theatre project, and last week flew to Boston to give a lecture at Tufts College on "Frontiers of Music." It was one on their series for the year. He stayed with the Bob Robbins' and enjoyed so very much his visit.
We wished so many times during the summer that you were with us. We really had a wonderful time together and celebrated our 25th anniversary in great style. Maybe next time you will come along.
Let us know your plans and we are looking forward to seeing you for Thanksgiving. Is there still a train to Wellington or will you have to go to Cleveland?
With Love from us all
{Aletha, Dan & John}
