Context

Daniel A. Harris 5840 S.W. 48th Street Miami, Florida 33155 Feb. 9, 1989 Dear friends: I certainly do appreciate all the care and effort that you put into packing and sending all those precious souvenirs. The two packages arrived in perfect condition, and I have spent a lot of time in sorting and attempting to discard a few items. My younger son and his wife and son will be here this week-end and I hope the boy will appreciate the life of Edison. I shall treasure the funeral book, with all the signatures. The candle sticks are on my dresser. I spent a lot of time with Mother's letters to Dick, and reluctantly destroyed them. My nephew, - son of my brother James, - and his wife and two children will be here in Florida in ten days, and some of the correspondence is to and from James. I am sure they will be interested and appreciative. I am sorry the attorney is giving you such a rough time. Had it occurred to you that a small check, in Dick's name, to all the relatives on your list, - excluding myself, might be appreciated? You never know what a difference it might make for some of these young people. And I am glad the green luggage strap decided to come home. And what a wonderful way to use up the Christmas stamps! I do appreciate all that you have done, and are doing, for Dick. Do come to see me if you get down this way, and drop me a not when you have time. Uncle Dan P.S. The photos will interest the two families who are visiting me during the next two weeks. One of the programs has my picture in it, dressed and made-up as an old darkey, singing Darling Nelly Gray. There are many picture post-cards which I sent from Italy and France. One rather tragic note from my Father to the President of Otterbein College. Broke. Hard times! I am trying to use up my OWN Christmas stamps!
