CHRISTMAS 1993
Seasons Greetings!
Time is slipping past so fast I'll have to make this a New Years letter if I don't get it out soon.
This has been another busy year for us. Interest rates are beginning to go up and we have noticed a slow-down the past couple of months. There has been a lot of re-financing. Wencl was 62 in August and decided he wants to "semi-retire". Translated that means work only until noon UNLESS ...
We didn't get away at all this year - no camping or long weekends. The weather wasn't cooperative much of the time and when it was we had other commitments.
Wencl is working on the renovation of our upstairs bath now. What a difference there will be when he is finished. After that we only have the music room to do and the project will be finished!
I am a babysitting grandma. If I don't have anything else I have to do there is nothing I enjoy more than being with Thomas and Kendra. I have had many opportunities to sit this year. Dan and Lori bought a larger house this summer and moved Labor Day weekend. The next night Lori's mother lost her valiant struggle with cancer. Of course it was not unexpected and like all cancer deaths, it was a blessing. She was quite a lady and showed us all how to die with dignity.
Thomas is 4 (will be 5 in February) . He goes to pre-school and will start kindergarten in 94. He is enthusiastic about everything and such fun to be with. He's a real pal and little companion. They live 7 blocks from us now (isn't that awful) and so he can't call and ask if he can come over to our house. Used to be Lori would take him across the street at their end of the block and I would meet him at our end. Now he calls and says, "Can you come to my house?" and grandma does). It won't be too long before he'll be hopping on his bike and making the trip to grandma & grandpas again. He's very excited about Christmas.
Kendra is a darling - petite with enormous blue eyes. She is the busiest little lady I can remember being around. It's a full time job keeping up with her. Every time Daddy & Mommy want to work on a project grandma is summoned to keep Kendra occupied and out of the way. They are such joys - I wonder what we did without them.

We thank God once again for another year of good health.
Our prayers are for good health and happiness to you and yours throughout the holidays and the new year.
Love,
{Wencl & Cathy}
P. S.
We have enjoyed hearing from so many of you and look forward to our greetings from the rest.
